Fredericksburg - Mary Washington House

Mary Ball Washington was the mother of George Washington. She married Augustine Washington in 1730. She was his second wife. Augustine had four children by his first wife. Mary Washington and Augustine had six children together (George, Betty, Samuel, John Augustine, Charles, and Mildred).

After her husband's death in 1743 Mary raised her family alone.

In 1772, Mary moved into Fredericksburg Virginia to be closer to her daughter. George purchased the house for his mother. The house is what Ms. Edwards and Ms. Wood took Kennedy and myself to visit. They weren't allowed to take pictures inside the house. They did take a few photos in the garden. Mary Ball Washington died in 1789.

Here is a picture of Kennedy and myself. We are standing in front of a walkway that used to connect Kenmore Plantation (the home of Betty Lewis), her daughter and her house. They were able to walk back and forth to visit each other's house.

Here is a picture of the garden behind Mary Washington's house.

Here is a picture of an original sun dial that was located behind Mary Washington's house.
